Sadie's Greatest Fear & The Garden

This is what we found sunning in our driveway this afternoon when we got home. It is just a bull snake so Gary just moved it into the pasture. The funniest thing was Craig's dog Sadie and how afraid she was of the snake. I don't think she has ever seen one before and she didn't want to even get close enough to look at it. After Gary moved it she went back to the spot and bristled her back hairs like something was going to get her. She turned around and saw a stick laying on the ground and jumped back like the stick was going to get her. We laughed so hard. She will chase the neighbors big dog out of our yard and pretend to be a big tough mean dog, but she sure backed down to a little old snake.

Gary's favorite thing in the summer is his garden so I decided I would keep a record of the progress this year. About two weeks ago our neighbor brought over his little tractor with a plow and got it ready for planting. Last week a few things went in such as radishes, onions and kohlrobi (not sure if this is spelled right). Carrots and cabbage will go in next and then corn in a couple of weeks. Before the end of May he will set out tomatoes , peppers, cantalope and watermelon plants. Of course there will be cucumbers for my jalepeno garlic dill pickles that my kids all love. He usually plants a few varieties of squash, some plants and some seeds. I'm not sure of all he has planned this year but I will keep you posted. When fall gets here we always have way more than we need so if anyone is in the area we will surely send you home with plenty of produce.

I'm Having a Party

Just want to let anyone who might be interested, and who might be reading this blog that I am having a PartyLite candle party on Saturday, May 26th at 2:00 in the afternoon. Anyone who wants to come is welcome and bring a friend if you would like. I just love these candles because they burn so completely and they smell so good so I want anyone who is familiar with this product to have a chance to come see them. Let me know if you can come either by responding to this post, by calling me or by e-mailing me if you have one of my many e-mail addresses.

I figured this is one of the best ways to let everyone know without forgetting to invite someone who might want to come. Invitations will be going out but the demonstrator sends them for me and I don't know how many she really wants to mail out. I have a big house so I can accomodate a bunch of people.

Another Musician in the Family

Looks like we have another musician in the family. Brooklyn thought she was pretty big stuff when I let her sit at the piano, especially when she figured out it would make noise. She is such a ham when it comes to pictures too. She was so intent on "playing" the piano but as soon as I got the camera and said "Brook let me take your picture" she turned and gave me this pose.

Evan and Kayleigh spent a week with us a while back. We had so much fun and they were actually pretty well behaved all the time...... just act like brother and sister sometimes even though they are cousins. They were building a train with the blocks one night before bed and I sure had a hard time getting them to stop long enough for a picture. But they are both like Brooklyn and love to pose for the camera.

Sadie, Craig and Joc's dog, thought she might be able to help build the train. She sure loves having the kids around.

I DID FIND SOME PICTURES

This is Evan and Kayleigh sliding down the "hill" next to our house. Actually it is a draw for drainage but just the right size for a three year old. The snow was what was left over from our storm on Thursday the 29th of March. Craig and Scott thought they would also give it a go but their weight just prevented them from even moving. Brooklyn stayed in the house where it was warm.

Don't be too shocked

I am terrible about making posts to this blog. It is such a new thing to me that I just plain forget to do it. Also wonder if anybody would really be interesting in anything that I have to post.

March was quite hectic for me but it looks like April may not be any better. I dusted off the old clarinet in January and joined the orchestra to play in the GCT production of "THE MUSIC MAN". Could hardly believe that I could actually still play the thing after so many years. (Hadn't played since college in 1974). Anyway, we had rehearsals in March every day (or evening) except for Wednesday and Sunday, for three hours or more. Then at the end of the month we did seven performances. Needless to say I got to know the plot of the play pretty well after all of that. It was a lot of fun and I look forward to doing it again next year when they do "The Sound of Music".

I am still taking on-line classes working towards my bachelors degree in Business Administration but will officially graduate on May 5th of this year. I still have to complete two classes this summer to get the signed diploma but after 6 years of taking classes two more shouldn't be too difficult. I enjoy learning and exercising my brain so it wasn't really so bad. Just seems like I spend too much time on the computer between work and homework.

Last week I had both Evan and Kayleigh staying with us. They are full of life and energy and this grammy has a hard time keeping up with them. But we had a lot of fun and the week just flew by. Krista and Scott had a few days off for spring break so I volunteered to keep Kayleigh so they could really have a vacation. It wasn't originally planned that I would have Evan too but he was without daycare that week. I think it was good they were both here because they entertained each other while I was working.

I will try to get some pictures posted again of all three of the grandkids when I get them downloaded into the computer. They are still all in the camera.
